Active Chilled Beams

Frenger Systems has successfully delivered an active multi-service chilled beam solution for the significant refurbishment project of Cambridge Central Library. The works to the Library located in the centre of historic Cambridge involved the design, manufacturing and supply of over 300 Active Multiservice chilled beams.

The MSCBs are designed to provide not only cooling and heating but also illumination to the open floor spaces as well as incorporating smoke detection and PIR controls. The project needed to ensure adequate cooling and lighting levels whilst also maintaining the overall aesthetic of this modern facility. Frenger's Active Beam were deemed to be most suitable due its low depth (less than 140mm) combined with its excellent performance at minimal supply air volumes. The MSCBs offer a controlled environment within the main open plan areas combining exceptional levels of energy efficiency and low running costs. The transformation of this 'traditional' library into a modern and pleasant environment has been universally appreciated and is testament to the well designed application of Frenger’s Active multiservice beam technology.
